The Myths Behind Killer Six Pack Abs

The diet and fitness industry is full of myths.  Especially when it comes to achieving the coveted six pack look! Unfortunately, it could be a few of these myths that are preventing you from seeing your abs.  So, let’s take a closer look at these and finally put these myths to rest so you can develop an effective six pack abs workout!

Myth:  You should train abs everyday
In reality, you should treat your abs like any other muscle in your body.  Perform 2 routines per week and spend roughly 20 minutes per routine. Make sure to rotate in different ab exercises to make sure your working the entire abdominal area.

Myth: I need to perform 1000 crunches a day
This couldn’t be further from the truth.  Performing all the ab work in the world isn’t going to get you a six pack.  Instead, you must concentrate on burning body fat by performing intense cardio exercises.  This will help put your body in a caloric deficit which in turn will melt away the layer of fat covering your abs.

Myth:  As long as I eat clean and exercise, I’m guaranteed abs
While a clean diet and exercise will help in your quest for a six pack, the most important factor is to place your body in a caloric deficit.  This is required to burn off the layer of fat covering your abs. So, you need to watch the amount of calories you intake and burn off calories through exercise.

Myth:  Ab exercises alone will lead to a stronger core
Ab exercises certainly strengthen the muscles in your stomach area, but to have a truly strong core you can’t forget about the lower back.  In fact, you should exercise the lower back just as much as you do the abdominal area to ensure you have good muscle balance.
